Moscow Office
- Mark has participated in SILC meetings and traveled to Boise for the ADA Task Force board meeting. DAC continues to partner with the Task Force to support ADA activities. Moscow has hosted a series of teleconferences on reasonable accommodation, etc.
- Mellowdee Brooks and David Wegeng represented DAC at the Senior Fair on May 10th. They report there was a fantastic turnout with many beneficial inquiries regarding DAC, and our services.
- Mellowdee Brooks will be attending the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America conference in Atlanta, Georgia from June 23-27. RESNA is an interdisciplairny association of people with a common interest in technology and disability. Their purpose is to improve the potential of people with disabilities to achieve their goals through use of technology. We look forward to Mellowdee’s report upon her return!
- Janesta Carcich is a member of the University of Idaho Presidential Campus-Wide Diversity Programming Committee. Recently, the committee, in conjunction with the Latah County Human Rights Task Force and the City of Moscow Human Rights Commission, sponsored a two-day conference on disabilities, diversity and access featuring Jane Jarrow, Ph.D. Attending from DAC were Mark Leeper, Mellowdee Brooks, and Janesta Carcich. This exciting event focused on access in higher education; understanding hidden disabilities, distance learning, representing persons with disabilities, and many more too numerous to mention. Issues of interest to the local community included companion animals, transportation, and meeting the intent and spirit of the ADA law, as well as the letter of the law. The event ended with a Community Forum, held in the 1912 Building, featuring Mark Weeks, Mel Leviton and Janesta Carcich publicly sharing their personal experiences.
- If you haven’t seen our website, please take a look! David Wegeng has been doing a fabulous job organizing the reams of information each office gives to him on a daily basis. Thank you, David, for a job well done! We appreciate it, and so will you! Take a look at dacnw.org!
